The factory supercharged 32-valve V8 gives the 2003 Cobra Mustang one helluva kick!

The US-spec Ford Mustang's 4.6-litre is a sweetie of a V8 but stir a factory supercharger into the equation and, ooo-eeey, you've got something hot on your hands. The blown 4.6 is far and away the most impressive American musclecar we've ever driven.

The vehicle you see here is a 2003 Ford SVT Cobra Mustang convertible that's blessed with that awesome supercharged bent-eight.

The car - which has driven a genuine 100 miles and is absolutely as new - is currently for sale at Melbourne's Sports and Luxury Cars. Craig from Sports and Luxury Cars explains that he usually sells 2003 atmo Cobra Mustangs in the AUD$90,000 range and the supercharged cousin will set you back AUD$120,000.

One-twenty grand for a 'Stang, you ask? Well, yes, but this is no ordinary pony car...

I should buy one, put it on a big boat, and meet an aussie in the middle of the ocean to trade for a falcon XR8 :hs:

The interior is old and crusty... but when you've got that much power does it really matter?

The interior actually looks ok IMO, but it's quite small inside and the shifter sux0rs. You can fix the shifter, but it still lacks legroom :hs:

i am fairly involved in the melbourne car seen and while it looks alright and goes alright, i dont know too many people who would give up their car for one of those. I guess it depends on the age group but most of the car scene here is made up of the younger generation... who are in the (more affordable) Japanese imports... :dunno: I wouldnt mind one if it was given too me but i wouldnt buy one even if i had the money. For $120k AUD, give me a noble m12 gto anyday.

if Ford US hasn't learnt from the number of japanese and european brands selling in the US they sure as hell aren't gonna learn anything from Ford AU

Check out the redesigned Mustang, the quality is vastly improved, in fact Ford stuff across the board is vastly improved if you look at all the car show threads this week.

We may be getting the Falcon too, we'll have to see.
