commodore ranges across several trim levels

if we are talking just holden, not hsv:

calais is the second highest luxury trim level on the short wheel base (calais-v is the highest on swb)

a caprice is the highest luxury trim level on the long wheel base

    yes all rwd

its a car to fill in the gap from the Holden SS to the HSV range.

Holden refers to the SS V as

"Holden’s king of the jungle, the new hero of our performance range. It also delivers front, side and curtain airbags, multi-function color LCD screen, premium stereo system and the ability to choose color-coded interiors"

the SS V starts at $51,990 (extra $2000 for the six-speed auto). Quite a bit for a standard Holden! The equipement level found in the SS V makes me wonder where the extra $6000 has gone? For a start the 19 inch wheels are a nice addition, but what else do you get?

    Exterior
    • 19-inch five spoke alloy wheels in silver paint finish
    • High tech tail lamps with smoky clear outer lens over bright styled bezel with red lens inserts
    • Larger decklid spoiler in body color and black accent as per SS
    • V decklid badge
    Interior
    • Unique longitudinal colour break-up and vertical door grab handles
    • Large color screen in centre stack
    Hmmm… extra $6000? Holden says:

    "
SS V has an aggressive theme taking sport interiors to a new level. Either in Onyx, Ignition or Redhot, colour is applied to the instrument panel and seats for those customers wanting to be expressive and have a sense of customisation"

So in otherwords, this car is aimed at those who have an extra $6,000, and really wish they had an HSV!

I hate how all the dashes are all the fucking the same plastic dials and plastic trim, across Holden and Ford, jump in an XR8 oohhh.....same dials as a ford Focus.

Especially in the higher end holdens/Fords, how about getting creative and making those fuckers stand out from the rest

    the G8 is a SS-V

you also have the SS-V Tail lights, the biggest differentiating factor

see how the SS (top) also misses out on the high quality large audio screen? Thats probably the most notable difference for most.

    right now

and im trying here, in the Holden sport range you have

    SV6 - roughly 40k, 280hp DI 3.6
    SS - 45k - 360hp 6L v8
    SS-V - 55k - "

    HSV GXP - 60k - 6.3L LS3
    HSV Clubsport R8 - 65k, "
HSV GTS - 75k, 6.3L slightly higher output LS3, with MRC suspension

    Ford

    XR6 turbo - 45k, 360hp turbo 4.0
    XR8 - 45k, 380hp 5.4 but slower
    FPV GS - 55k, 400hp 5.4
    FPV GT - 65k - 420hp
    FPV GT-P - fuck knows
    FPV F6 - 420hp turbo 4.0L

and thats just the sport models, they all have luxury varients, and than stretched wheelbase, and they all have turbo or v8 engine options and it just goes on

Not really, especially if you are familiar with how American automakers used to offer vehicles back in the 1960s.

they follow a pretty set model tree, i have no problem knowing them all.

Im not really sure the new point of HSV's new "GXP" model though, its basically the same price as a clubsport, you may aswell just get the clubbie.
