Thoughts on this? I am probably going to be in the market for a new car within the next year and looking at some cars in this price range. AWD, turbo, coupe, german. Seems like a good deal, right? What are your impressions of this car?

    Get the bigger engine.

They always look pretty plasticy to me. The car looks nice from a distance. Get a metallic red one with the smoked headlights. Sexy.

How is the power? More importantly, how is the handling? If you own(ed) an M, how does it compare to it's handling?

you could get the HALDEX electronic control unit to get more power to the rear or coilovers and a rear sway bar to reduce the amount of understeer and sharpen up the turn in

basically the 1.8t is great once the spool kicks in...and it kicks in pretty early...overall compared to the newer ones i've heard overall its about the same the 1.8t seemed to be a little more spunky from what i hear...compared to an m...u can't...its awd...but do some suspension work to it and coming out of a turn you'll eat an m...theres no competition for 4 wheels gripping and that kind of power

Thanks for the imput guys. Basically, I want a relatively fast and good handling DD. When I say DD, I mean comfort and reliabilty. Chip, exhaust, fmic, ect. I would assume an nj75 racevalve and boost controller do the same to this engine as they do to all the other 1.8t's? Or is it different because this one is twin intercooled and has a slightly larger turbo?

1.8T is weaksauce stock (I have a 1.8T). You will need mods if you want to make it fast. It also has sub-par gas mileage for normal cruising. I don't think it is a good cruiser engine or a good sport engine. It just fits somewhere in-between as a mediocre engine for both purposes.

If it were a FWD model with the K04 (225 turbo) swap, then yes, with the other bolt on's it's possible...With the Quattro, probably not..

Fantastic car, Get the 225. The extra weight of the 6 and DSG = not that big of a gain. I have a 225 roadster and have yet to not grin ear to ear when driving it. With a few mods, it is an absolutely amazing car. I used to regularly blow the doors of Boxter S's
