One of the cars I'm considering for my next car. I've never been too fond of the reliability of the car (or the company for that fact), but I love the way it looks and I'd consider it if it was a car that was (almost) worry-free for the next 5 years or so... since thats how long I plan on keeping my next car. What is OT's opinion? Good idea, Bad idea?

And I'm talking about this body style

A friend of mine has one... He's driven all over American in the thing (California -> Atlanta -> New York -> Atlanta etc) and it's still doing very well.

my cousins '97 has been in the shop more than he's acutally driven it. It has a new block, tranny, turbo, tierods, a couple of electrical gremlins. But when the car is actually working, it's a quick little car...

I thought about that, until I talked to my insurance agent... and apparently, that is the most expensive car I have on my list of cars I want. They want $1100 for a 6 month policy. And yes, I'm over 25, no tickets, no accidents, and a perfect driving record. :rant2:

front bumper is the main difference... but then again, that pic could be a A4 w/ a S4 bumper. :dunno:

The list of cars I'm considering are these:

    '01 Audi A4
    '02-'02 Nissan Maxima SE
'01-'02 Honda Accord V6 EX Coupe
    '99-'02 IS300
    '99-'01 3.2TL
    '99-'00 BMW 328i

Most of these can be had w/ about $15-17k w/ decent mileage... if I want reliability, I'd do the honda, nissan, or Lexus route. If I want cool factor I'd do the A4 or the bimmer... but I'm uncertain as far as maintainance cost over the next 5 years or so. :o

I would personally go with the A4. I bought a used 2000 A6 2.7T back in October and it has been running great so far. After being accustomed to such a luxurious cabin, I don't think I will ever go back to Toyota/Honda ever again. The build quality and the materials Audi uses are just immaculate.
