Thinking of heading down there with a friend in 2-3 weeks. What is there to do besides the SD Zoo?

Any mma gyms there worth visiting and leg humping?

Here's a post i made in another forum when someone was visiting:

Also, we have some of the best breweries in the country.
Stone Brewery, Pizza Port rseraunt and Brewery/Lost Abbey
    etc.

and as far as gym go, i dont think there is anythign so special that you coulodnt find it eslewhere, we just have a ton of gyms. Maybe Vera's gym to take Kaman101. Or Throwdown to train with Lister.

Or you could head kjust a bit north to Temecula and train with Quest, then visit the wineries.

Man I would love to get a session in with Dean Lister, that guy has sick BJJ, although he hasn't been great at making it work in his MMA game.

I'm staying in Gaslamp District over labor day weekend. What are the good restaurants/bars to hit up around there?

if you like Rabbit, Cafe Sevilla has the best Rabbit I have ever eaten.
Rio de Gado is the shit. Brazillian steak house where they walk up to your table and serve you meat form a giant skewer.
Gaslamp Strip Club (cook it yourself steaks)
    Blue Point (hoity-toity seafood)
Bondi Bar (onceall australian bar, now australian influenced bar)
The Field (top notch irish pub
Pokees (mexican food, and the BEST sangria in town)
    East Village Tavern (bar/bowling alley)
Star Bar (filthy bar, cheapest in downtown, looks like a filipino whore-house)
Henry's pub (nice bar if you are over 30)

i dont go to clubs, so i might not be the best person to tell you where to go.

tons of great eating in and around downtown though.

Places I like when I lived there.
Cheep food: I fricken loved the Alberto places. Or any variation of the word. Carne Asada Burritos are the shit.
Fun bar: O'hungries in old town. You can get a 3ft tall beer there and the sing a long songs are kinda fun when smashed.
Great sea food: Top of the Market. Its right between seaport village and the star of india on Harbor drive. At the end of a pier. All sea food is fresh caught that day.
    Easy score: Star bar, In-cahoots
Kinda fun: Bonfire on Fiesta Island and watchin the sea-world fireworks.

Would you guys say that a week is a good time frame to see all the sights?

We're looking at leaving Aug 28th and coming back Sept 4 and don't know if it's too long or not :dunno:

I'd say thats more than enough time. the beaches will be complete shitfucks for memorial day, but San Diego isnt much of a sight seeing town.

i would say a week in san diego is plenty to get the full experience and see everything. If money is tight, i would even suggest shortening it a day or two.
