I don't know if this will help anyone here, but here goes...I've seen a few threads on the subject asking for advice.

I have had trouble doing lat pull downs since I started at the gym almost two years ago. I tried light weight, heavy weight, pulling with elbows, just about everything I read suggested on the topic. No matter what I did, my arms would tire out way before ever really felt anything in my back.

Three workouts ago I tried something I saw some huge guy doing at the lat pull down station. I'd do the pull downs like normal but not straighten my arms out at the end of reach rep. I didn't even need to think about pulling with elbows etc. Now after each workout I barely feel anything in my arms, but my lats feel it big time.

So anyway, if you seem to have trouble with those, try not straightening your arms at the top of the rep and see if it helps.

Making your hands "hooks" also helps.

I get more out of lat pull downs if I do near them last when my back/lats are more fatigued

I'll start with 1 handed lat pull downs using a regular handle like if your doing cable crossovers so i can really move my body how I need to to activate my lats... then once I have a little bit of a pump going on in there I switch to a long bar and do some real sets.

Doing close grip cable rows gets them pumped pretty good too, I usually end up cheating and using more muscles with barbell rows so I use that more as a power movement.
