My Mini-14 is having some occasional ejection problems. It'll fire and leave the spent casing in the chamber with the bolt closed.

I'm thinking the gas cylinder may be getting dirty and not sending enough pressure to the bolt. How involved is it to clean this? Is it a "user serviceable part", or do I need to take it to a gunsmith?

    Try using higher octane gas.

Edit: Techron is good at removing deposits.

I don't know about mini-14s, but with an AK you can clean it yourself (I've never done it, but I'm supposed to )

dunno how the mini14 works but take it apart and see if you can get to the gas cylinder area. run a brass/copper brush down it on a drill to clean all the carbon out. see if that helps.

Have you stripped the gun down as much as you can and cleaned it as well as you can?

The gas block is piece the end of the op rod slides into. Never took it apart when I had a mini-14

Sorry, I just don't see me spending $1000 on a rifle right now. And besides that, you need to be just as meticulous about keeping an AR clean as with a Mini-14.

Although... I did see 3 M1 Garands for sale yesterday. $800, $1300, and $1500. Beautiful f-ing rifles. :coold:
