Try some of the contract companies (quilogy, IT Pros, etc). Being willing to relocate will increase your odds.

    hrm. OT meltdown?

if they wanna pay relocation, that's fine with me so long as the daily average temp doesn't get below 75F

Some do, some don't. But beggars can't be choosers, and choosers live in vans by the river.

Check your local paper too. Some companies are just old fashioned that way.

any I.T. company that can't be bothered to get a posting online or accept emailed resumes is not one that i have any interest in working for

if they're that backward on that kind of thing, i'd hate to get in there and try to actually do something on a computer

It's not just IT companies that hire IT people ya know. Some of the cushiest IT jobs are at small to mid size companies that are not high-tech (yet, that's your job to make them high tech).

    yeah, that too

but for now i don't have time to get ahold of a paper (and besides, anything in classifieds would be in the online version anyway ;) )

Where did I say buy a paper?

Anyway submit resumes to contract companies. A lot of places bring on new hires are contractors (so they can fire you in the first 6 months without cause if you suck).

No indoor parking where I worked. And the pay wouldn't be all that right ;)
