If you are a current dreamhost.com customer, PM me for a code to receive $40 off hosting with lunarpages and lunarpages will also buy out the remainder of your contract with DreamHost! (Up to 9 months!)

If you have several months left on your contract with DH, sign up for lunarpages
and email lunarpages your billing receipt and lunarpages will add that extra time to your account with lunarpages.

No. But, I don't get credit for this current campaign, so why should it matter?

    Hi Josh!

Ack. Through a COMPLETE bumbling on our part, we've accidentally attempted
to charge you for the ENTIRE year of 2008 (and probably 2009!) ALREADY
(it was all due to a fat finger)!

We're really really realllly embarassed about this, but you have nothing
to worry about. Please ignore any confusing billing messages you may have
received recently; we've already removed all those bum future charges on
your account (#328983) and fixed everything up.

Thank you very very much for your patience with this.. we PROMISE
this won't happen again. There's no need to reply to this message unless
of course you have any other questions at all!

    Sincerely,
    The Foolish DreamHost Billing Team!

    grrr

I read their blog pretty actively, so I understand the "casual tone" that the company seems to try to convey. Ive also been a customer for probably 3-4 years, and I know you get what you pay for, but this is a ridiculous error with a terribly sarcastic apology. i can't imagine how many customers they'll lose, this is enough to convince me to not need renew once my year is up even though I use the account only for sandbox stuff

Reading some reviews, it looks like e-mail is down alot (as well as overall), can anyone confirm this?
They have a pretty cheap price but the reviews aren't at all promising.

They could be more formal about it. Instead they just put "oops, LOL", not very professional imo.

    Yes they allow legal pornography.

They have ups and downs ALOT, mostly because they have a shitload of customers to deal with, I think it's time to move on.

    Oh. Yeah.

I use my own mail server for lots of my mail. :o

When I did use DH for mail server, I do remember having issues, time outs, mail server down, etc. Same can be said about any hosting company, but I think DH kinda had way too many accounts per server, so it was more of a constant issue.

Actually I was referring to lunarpages.
There are alot of sites promoting it and saying they're the best thing since sliced bread, coincidentally it looks like those sites have the same layout/CSS as lunarpages.

Then there are some that obviously aren't from lunarpages (because the site consists of more than just "hey look at how awesome these guys are") with more bad peer reviews than good, especially in the previous 6months or so.

No it can't, and it shouldn't.

Downtime is completely unacceptable with a host, budget or not.

So once in a while, a specific user on a shared server, won't exhaust resources and maybe, just maybe slow things down for a minute or two?

That's all I'm saying. I agree, nothing should ever be down. :dunno:

Hmm, in the past month, email issues haven't really been showing up.

    Dunno if that helps. :dunno:
