Canon EF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 USM - Is it a good lens?
I feel it would be nice to have this kind of a focal range in one lens.

I'll probably end up buying the 70-200 f/4 sooner than I had planned originally. :wtc:

I picked up a Nikon 28-200mm F3.5-5.6 ED for my D70. Too bad it's not here yet. But it's a great walk-around lens IMO.

Word. I could really use that. My 70-300 is too long and my 18-70 isn't long enough. A 28-200 would be the best of both worlds- perfect for a walk around lens. :)

if you are going to get a 70-200 in the not to distant future, it doesnt seem like you'd want the 28-200 also. there's alot of overlap and having that much range in a lens wont give you the sharpest image all throughout. I think optically having two would be better, but I guess the convenience of one is more appealing.

Yeah, the range of that 28-200 is very appealing.

Why don't you just wait for the Sigma 18-200mm to come out before you make up your mind on this zoom lens. If the 18-200 is sharp at all, it'll be way more versatile than the 28-200 (18-28 is a HUGE difference in perspective).

I'd wait for reviews before you pull the trigger on anything. :o

    When?
I won't be buying that zoom lens with the camera, so I might be able to wait.

hmmm, i wasn't aware they were making such a thing.

we use a 28-300 tamron at work and it does what we need it to do. My only complaint is the lag time on focusing. but carrying around more than 1 lens isn't practical for us either so it fits in.
