My buddy just landed a sweet job in California.

But he also just picked up a nice M-4gery.

What all is he going to have to do to it so he can bring it along? He's already looking for 10-round mags and having trouble with that.

Requesting suggestions beyond "don't go to CA." :hsd:

In cali, you can have detachable mag as long as it's 10round or less?

My M4gery has a bullet button with 10/30 mags. Can't even tell it's CA compliant by looking at it.
Bullet button is just a recessed button that you can't operate without a tool (the tip of a bullet, an allen wrench, etc). Kind of a nuisance, but not a huge deal.

It wouldn't matter what the job was or what it was paying, I would not move to California.

the first thing he needs to do is make sure that the lower receiver is not on the banned list. If the receiver is banned by name, it doesn't matter how he configures the rifle.

:werd: Have to check the Roberti-Roos list before you can even configure that rifle to be Kalifornistan compliant.

Bullet button is kinda on the edge of legality. I'd just go with a standard mag lock. 10rd mags are easy to find.

disclaimer: I'm from VA & don't have to deal with bullet button or monster-man grip hijinks & shenanigans.

That being said, what is "the edge of legality"?

Either it's legal or it isn't.

    .

It's perfectly legal to have a BB setup. You can't remove the mag without the use of a tool, which is what the law specifies.

I'll probably use it for my 6.5 builds (when I get around to them, but they are on the list after a bunch of handguns and other rifles), but for my 20" AR I went with an MMG :dunno:

Driving from Vegas to ... anywhere in CA that sports a significant population is quite a trek.

I used to drive from Vegas to Modesto a couple of times a month (Lived in Vegas, Family in Modesto). 8 hours each way...gets old after the first trip.
