is that seriously the reason? 30 million dollars to shoot it down, meanwhile 15 people here including myself got hit with hydrazine this past year and nobody gave a fuck :ugh:

mind you we don't have nearly that much, but fuck. i was coughing for 3 days

I don't believe the fuel will survive the re-entry. I think it will have ignited and dissipated long before it gets anywhere near ground level.

There's probably a shitload of highly classified equipment on that satellite, and the projected re-entry will probably put it in a compromised part of the globe.

true, the thing wasnt designed to stay intact through a reentry that wasnt planned/controlled...so it will probably blow to bits...but if it doesnt the missile will have to pic the largest target and is pretty much just a big bullet hitting it so might not destroy everything important/classified....

im not saying shit till its over, the secrecy involved in the actual project is insane. and im not saying that from the point of someone in deck, im saying that from the point of view of someone that works in the scif.

why the fuck can't they say the "super-secret spy satellite" was shot down for just that reason? why make it a public safety measure when they don't give a fuck about military members?

nah there's stuff you can't say because it would break opsec. In the navy for example you can't say 2 days in advance you're going to XX port, however once your at that port you can say you're there all you want.

understood, however any classified information about this satellite cannot be discussed until it is declassified.

true that, really sad thing is they "lied" to us even after CNN started releasing information lol. were told not to believe the media then 6 hours later we get read what sounded like a news article from cnn or nbc about what we were told we wern't doing. gotta love the military.

Sounds like a good test job to figure out ways to take out other countries low orbit sat's at a much cheaper price than putting "ooo killer sats" in space.

I doubt the release of gas has anything to do with it, as stated.
