I recently got an VisionTek ATI 9550 for palying counter strike 1.6. It worked nicely for about 4 days, then when ever I went to play any games in the Half Life 1 engine, my monitor would turn off and when i went to turn it back on i got an error saying that no signal was found and the only way i got the computer to work again was to shut it off. I started getting the problem when i installed the latest catalyst drivers.

    Specs:
    512 mb ram
    74 gb hdd
    amd 2700+
    win xp home
Visiontek Xtasy 9550 128mb video card

Yep. Your motherboard has a Via chipset.

    Solution -

Go into the BIOS, and set the AGP speed down to 4X.

If that fails, enable fast writes.

If everything else fails, go to www.viaarena.com and download the newest Hyperion drivers.

If it still isn't working, buy an nForce based board. The Chaintech, Asus, and MSI models are your best bets for the price, especially Chaintech. But if you want to OC, get the Asus.

    Via chipsets lick choads...

Don't mention it man, all in a day's work.

Just don't drink the Kool-Aid - It's actually blown capacitor juice :mepoke:.

We had a bunch of MSI and Abit boards come in, and we wanted something to drink.

    'Nuff said.

if you want to OC dont get the ASUS, get an ABIT nf7-s, its the only good nforce 2 overclocking board.

Meh. Is it mATX? After hearing all these horror stories of Abit boards (Including one from my buddy who bought an Alienware, the board literally died two days later), I cannot recommend them. Personally my experience with Asus, Chaintech, and Gigabyte have been pure bliss so far.
