Hey all, I recently replaced my kit lens with the Tamron 17-50 / 2.8 and I've been glued to my camera!

here are some pics to today's race event in Athens Georgia. Adjustments were done in Adobe Camera Raw before conversion - feedback welcome!

All I notice in this thread are the big titties in number 2, and the see-through head in number 1 :o :hs:

    Most are snap shots

Good choice in ditching kit lenses for the Tammy... now on to C&C:

1 I actually like the see through head on this one, though cutting off his wheel ftl.
2 Snapshot, and no need to post it here. :wackit: to 'em later.
3 Good panning, good comp. Subject's in focus. Nice shot.
4 you cut the heads, arms, and legs off your subject. Are you some kind of serial killer? :squint:
5 You've got multiple subjects here, but you took the head right off one of them.
6 either go really tight with a shot like this, or a little wider to get most of him in the frame.
7 cut off your subject.... again.
    8 snapshot
9 snap into a slim jim
10 I like the angle, but your subjects are cut off again. the only one in focus is missing his feet, and the only ones fully in the frame are blocked by a tire.
    11 oof
12 Not a bad shot. some blown highlights in the background, but he's in focus w/ a touch of motion blur to give a sense of what's going on.
    13 subjects all slaughtered again.
14 should have zoomed out a bit more to get the boy's father in the shot as well. Overall though, there's nothing interesting about this shot
15 BG too distracting, almost entirely swallows your subject.
    16 snapshot.
17 You like pictures of decapitated people, no?
18 I like the composition of this shot, but it feels underexposed...
    19 snapshot
20 I like what you were going for here. there's a sense of action and motion, though a higher angle may have helped you out here, being slightly above the riders as they go past and dive into the turn.
    21 snapshot

    Solid, thanks!

I guess as a general rule of thumb, the subjects are supposed to be entirely in the frame?

For the basics, yeah. Later on, when you're trying to make some sort of statement, it's ok to break the "rules" of photography. But learn the basics first, then get into the rules violations for a purpose.
