From the NRA-ILA newsletter.
reports surfaced of lawful gun owners and holders of valid carry permits having their firearms confiscated.
I should be home early that day. I'll be watching for sure.
heard about this months ago, it is a shame
would someone be justified in using deadly force if an officer of the law attempted to confiscate your weapons? The second ammendment is put in place to prevent this from happening.
I'm say, as long as you're justified and lawfully owning and possessing the firearm, and a police officer attempts to take it from you, (say they asked you to show it to them, and then tried to take it from you when you showed them), would you be justified it closing the door, or would you have to resort to force. I mean stealing is stealing, unless they've got a warrant right? anyway, i hope this never happens at my door, but i'm asking what's the right thing to do if this were to happen? Same thing about the NO confisaction after Katrina.
Kinda doubt it
Without a warrant, they have no grounds.
Without criminal proceedings, they have no warrant.
I'd shut the door in their face.
Let them take it, find a pro-2A lawyer, cash in
I agree, if there is no warrant give them one of these... and a have a nice day.
I wouldn't let them take it, that's like giving consent to search. If they have to force their way in it'd be easier to use the 4th to argue for you. No deadly force, but don't let them walk in.
They would be told to get lost unless they have a warrant.. and the door would be shut.
If they persisted, I'd tell them to get off my property and not come back until they have a warrant.
If there was forced entry, I would fear for my life & defend myself.
Then they would shoot your wife and dog and burn your house down.
Probably. Or some similar act of government silencing would happen to me.
This is the party i'm mainly concerned about. Like they forced their way into your house armed, and searched for the guns, and threatened arrest if you didn't tell them... I mean, to what extent does the 2A allow you to defend yourself from tyranny? I guess that's what you'd call it.
really i'm not this coped up redneck waiting for the feds to come take my guns so i can shoot'em david coresh style. but i'm just asking the hypothetical. Food for thought.
...oh, and my godmother/mother's bestfriend, is the 2nd highest ranking ATF agent in missouri gs-13 or something, so i don't think i'd get mine confiscated, but i'm just asking for other people.
