Considering this or the 17-55is, but the distortion I've seen on some photos is making me lean towards the 17-55. I have also heard that the 17-55 is sharper. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

yeah i know.... but I can only afford one at the moment...:hsd:

I currently have a 24-70 but it's not wide enough and not the focal range I am looking for. I plan to sell the 24-70.

    I'd go 10-22

17 is not that wide on a cropped sensor

and the 10-22 is an awesome lens I've been told

I was wondering the same thing. i would think its probably pretty high...20mm or so (thats what im expecting, ill be happy with little distortion at 15mm or less)

I've noticed that the more light, the less distortion at real wide angles. I would guess at 12-13mm, there is none.

distortion is relative to distance. There's no real right way to answer this question.

so the closer the subject is to the lens determines the distortion?

all superwides will be roughly the same in terms of distortion due to focal length.

some may exhibit more CA, barrel distortion or sharpness/lack of than others.

I really wish the 10-22 was more like 10-35... that would be hot.
