If you have no prior military service, you can enlist into the Army up until your 42nd birthday. BUT there are jobs in the Army that you can not do unless you get into them before you are a certain age (I'm thinking 28, but I might be wrong). Ranger and Warrant Officer are two that come to mind, but there are probably more.

oh yeah trust me there's plenty of people in the military that join when they're that old. you wouldn't feel weird.. just so long as you don't mind taking orders from 19 y/os :ugh2:

A lot of jobs that just aren't THAT physically demanding...lots of Signal Jobs that need well reasoned / technically versed personnel.

Food for thought. I'm having trouble breaking into my chosen field (information technology) after a career change, not sure any branch would take me though...would past history of serious trauma take me out of the running (motorcycle accident...head injury, multiple broken bones, internal bleeding, but no serious deficits...I can still run/jump/etc)? As long as I can pass the basic fitness tests?

I am 37 years old in 2 months.

It's all about what your doctor and the specialists that MEPS will send you to say. If the specialists at MEPS say you're good to go, then you're in. If they say no, then it becomes a pissing match between your specialists and theirs, with theirs having the last say.

I would go to a recruiter, lay it all out for him, and ask him what kinds of doctors or specialists you need to get written evaluations from. When you go to these doctors, tell them what you want to do and ask them to write an evaluation that fits your goals (if they find you fit for duty).

    Good luck!

I came in at 20. I wouldn't come in past 25 unless I had a degree. Taking orders from a younger person is FTL.
