I couldn't take a pic of my DSLR and CCD Rigs together, so I got a mate to come over with his and shoot us all together...I tell you what, my lens is 18-55. His is 17. That one millimetre makes the world of difference when it comes to getting more of the dome in from that limited distance!

I didn't even know you needed a lens, I thought your telescope was your lens.

What's somebody like you doing in a silly place like this.

The main draw of this site is the main forum. . . which is something that doesn't seem relevant to your interests at all.

    Yep!:bigthumb:

Hmm...I'm curious now...could you post a pic of what you thought I looked like...in no more then 30 words, describe why...

    It's actually not that bad...so I'm told...:coolugh:

I only use the lens on my DSLR for widefields away from the observatory and telescope. I'm just amazed at the difference in angle that one mm makes. My 18-55 only gets in half this image.:eek3:

    Hey! I resemble that comment!
Well, I'm not a paid member, so I have no idea what is in the main forum. I have actually met some really interesting and nice folks here.

What IS the main the main forum about, or don't I want to know?;)

    Baz.

just didn't expect you to look as old. :dunno: other than jcolman typically the users around here are late teens to early 20's. i sometimes feel like an old man around here and i'm just a couple months shy of 30.

Oh wow I didn't expect everyone to be so young. I'm 31 in a few weeks myself.

I play EVE Online daily and most people I run into are 21-50 so I guess I figured that was the internet crowd.

Dude, I just meant I thought you were a really young guy or something, like a teenager. You certainly don't look like you're almost 50!

it still amazes me that with thousands and thousands of dollars in equipment that you are still using just a kit lens. Apparently, there is not much of a need for higher quality glass :dunno:

My kit lens is all I have for the Canon right now. I use it for going out in the scrub and shooting widefield. If I could afford it, I would buy one of those lovely 10-22 Sigma lenses or even get a Canon 5D MKII with a wide angle lens for that kind of work.

When I used to use my Canon 400D on the telescope, the kit lens was removed and the camera body attached straight to the back of the telescope.

Now I have dedicated CCD Astro-cameras permanently mounted to the telescopes.
