Good idea or bad? I'm horrible at picking clothes. I always used to go with my sister since she is good with that shit. However, I'm now in Spain and in dire need of new clothes since nothing fits me any more. Would it be a bad idea to ask for help from the store employees?

It matters what store. Most of the upper end/more classy stores it's good to ask an employee. However, if you are going to normal department stores, steer clear of the employees cause they know shit.

Bottom line... you know you best: just take a bunch of clothes that are in your price range that you have a vague interest in, go to the fitting room and try them all on one at a time... see how they look. You are your own hardest critic.

depends where. taste is so subjective. most places go by commission, so they might want you to just buy what ever.

if it really matters to you, start looking at magazines or pictures to develop your own taste, and start off by emulating what YOU like.

I never ask an employee unless I have a certain criteria of what I want and they can find things under it. Taste is too subjective.

when a 60 year old man asks you what kind of exercises he should do to stay fit, do you tell him to go wakeboarding?

the shittiest advice is the advice that is not given thought to in relative to their advice seeker.

you dont pick out clothes when you get to the store. you pick out clothes from tv, models, other people you see everyday, etc.

you shouldnt show up at the mall not knowing what you want yourself to look like.

    :ugh2:

    wtf?

you know these personal shoppers you have to pay them, it's their job so i'm sure they know a little something. it's not a here i'll pick out some shit and you buy it... you go through a whole process of what you are into and go by what you are wearing and magazines on how you would like to look etc...

then they go through the stores inventory and find shit for you or look at other stores that they can order clothes for you

they aren't the 40 year old cashier at macy's :hsugh:

oh and my dad's friend from work surfs and goes wake boarding he's 58... that's pretty close to 60
i also know a lot that hike mountains to ski (ungroomed out of bounds shit, not the green runs)

i usually recommend the safest, most non-offensive outfit possible, while my coworkers usually just throw everything at you in hopes that you'll like something.

you should really just use the employees to show you a variety of styles, and pick what you want. if they recommend you something, don't just assume they know what's best for you, because they just met you five minutes ago.

:werd: sometimes i can gauge what they want by what they're wearing but usually i give them a couple of safe options...they usually end up buying what THEY picked out though. i think sometimes they just want someone to chat with :dunno:

When I go to the store I get most of my clothes at, most of them know me, and always just show me the new stuff.
