I'm sick of Sprint's bullshit and my phone is in major need of replacement anyway.

My contract is up, so I'm planning on going Verizon + Motorola E398, but the only place that I've seen have it is eBay, and people are wanting a pretty penny for it.

I need a new phone and I want the E398 oh so badly.. please help me :(

I think they're going for less than that on eBay, but who knows about the seller's reputation

You're going to have one heck of a time using an E398 with Cingular because in a lot of states, Cingular uses 850mhz only whereas other places use 1900mhz. I would recommend getting an 850/1900mhz phone like a V500/v600 if you want to stick with motorola but none of those have the expandable memory feature.

so what service do people usually use with the E398?

The only services that are decent in my area are Verizon and Cingular, in that order. Next would be Sprint which is pretty bad, and then T-Mobile which is non-existant
