For me, it has nothing to do with focus compatibility with af/af-s bodies, it has to do with focus speed. The 85/1,4 is too slow, and having an af-s version would make it worth it for people who need speed to buy it (like me)

Its not as fast as the 70-200, but its pretty quick IMO. I like it and see it becoming my favorite portrait lens.

It's an excellent portrait lens, but it's nowhere near fast enough to capture any significant action with any degree of consistency. The 85/1.4 and the 135/2 aren't worth buying without af-s motors, for me. Some people, they're fine for, just not me :hs:

I love the fact that Nikon seems to be trying to catch Canon with primes. Canon's primes are the one GLARING advantage they have over Nikon.

No, it's a rendering, as it says in the post.

Same difference. Either way it's a fake. What's the point of even getting excited about something like this?

Would it be nice if Nikon updated all their primes? Absolutely.

well... since the 50 has a G version now, the same is expected of the nearly 14 year old 85. Just the evolution of the brand. :dunno:

I'd rather they did the 135, my friend has the 135L and it's probably the second sharpest digital lens I've ever shot with, thing's incredible

Since this is a rumor thread, I'm adding more fuel to the fire from Nikon Rumors...

A 28 1.4 would be interesting, a little wider than I'm used to but I'd love to see some wide Nikon primes

Apparently they already make a better camera. Now it's glass they want to work on, cause all those noinks out there are looking at the canon camp of lenses, with a tear on their cheek, and a tug at their heart...
