Arnold's Beginner Routine vs. Christophers' routine

    These seem to be the big 2 here, I'm coming off of 6 months of bulking on christophers routine, made great strength gains, and I got bigger, but I'm not where I'd like to be, so I'm thinknig of doing Arnold's level 1 beginner program (from the archives).

    My question is simple; which if these routines is superior to add mass. I'm not talking about strength here, just getting bigger.

    I did the Arnold day 1 today and my weights were about 60-80% what I'd use on christophers' because of the high volume (4x12) so that has me worried about making gains, but anyway I'd like to hear which you think is better for getting bigger.

    Well let's think about this one now...


    The Arnold routine was made by Arnold and is in the New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding


    So I would think that his routine will be more suited to your goals. Make sure you eat a ton.

    not really, but a medium volume (say 5-12 or so) is generally considered best for hypertrophy.

    I'm cutting :wtc: but I still eat ~3K cals/ day - completely clean.

    It means do the christophers routine for 6-8 weeks or whatever, then switch to a hypertrophy routine for a period, rinse, wash, repeat.

    think about the questions we deal with here, I hardly remember anyone, i dont take anything for granted here anymore :rofl:

    I mean...jus today someone asked if cold water will hinder there workout an core temp...

    you should only drink warm water, its easier to digest.

    er, um, i mean you should only drink cold water it makes you burn more calories b/c your body has to warm it up.


    oh, and you should only eat brown cylindrical foods, like sausage. the closer it looks like a log going in, the easier your body can digest it and turn it into a log going out. salad, for example, thas rough. gotta make it brown and roll it up.

    Well I was actually thinking of switchign between every week, would this be a good way to combine or should it be like every 3-6 months I switch? The reason I thought every week was to keep the muscles guessing, keep gaining strength and not overtrain on Arnold's 6 day/ week program.

    exactly. No one can tell you what will work the best. the whole point in different routines being posted is to give you ideas and new things to try. When I posted Arnolds routine (at least I didn't say "trancezj's base routine" lol) it was just to give people an example of a working BBing routine. You should by all means give both workouts a shot plus more workouts and see what works and even think up your own custom routine. And by give it a shot, I don't thing 6 weeks is even enough, especially if you're a newb because you could go in and do a machine circle jerk and gain. Give it all some time. I can promise you neither will be counter productive.

    I have been doing Valume plus power training as outlined in the book by Aronld. When I have my home gym and a few more months of training I'm doing a slit.

    Valume does bulk you up faster then strenght train. Doing both for the win, as always pur is right..
