I was wondering how hard is it to get through the Army band audition?
You gonna be playing the skinflute?
LOL. Funny. I was just wondering though if it's hard to get into that. I mean how hard can that MOS possibly be?
My cousin's ex-bf made the audition as a drummer, but didn't make it through AIT.
Can you breathe, do push-ups, sit-ups, and a 2 mile run in under 15min??
when you get deployed you pull guard duty all the time
Military bands are hard. They are on par with the top concert bands and orchestras in the world, and are pretty high stress from what I've heard. What insturment do you want to go out for it on?
Considering there are probably a large amount of applicants competing for 1 position I'd say its hard.
He's trying out for the rusty trombone.
Not an easy insturment by any means... I was thinking of going out for one of the military bands, but I stopped playing. I would have tried out on sax.
Pretty hard, we had guys in basic that were going straight into army band "AIT" after basic.... these guys all had master's degrees and could play dozens of instruments and were pretty strack as far as musicians are concerned. There are different types of bands in the army though too. Some are just local unit type bands, or division bands, and they pretty much got that duty in addition to their regular MOS, but the "Us Army band" when I was stationed in Berlin was a dedicated PR type band that played every day somewhere, and these guys all had masters degrees etc.. There's also a couple of touring type little PR rock bands that play the state fairs, hand out recruiting brochures etc..
here's the " main army " band link:
