ok dude, being in brazil has obviously hindered your ability to comprehend english. Nobody (except that one guy) said that leg attacks were cheap. I pointed out to the guy that said they were cheap that they are only considered cheap by some people because there is a stigma against them due to the whole bjj vs. luta livre feud. Fucking read before you post shit like this again.

Id say they are dangerous and that is the reason we have rules that blue belts can do straight ankle locks, purple belts can do more different types of ankle locks like a figure four ankle lock and finally browns can do heel hooks etc...

you can't do heel hooks at all in GI competitions, not even black belt level. Only no gi.

    Well you're wrong.

A straight ankle lock, kneebar or various other leg locks aside from the heel hook are a lot safer to put on someone and apply pressure than armbars, chokes, shoulder locks, etc. Someone spazzing to defend an armbar, kimura, choke, etc. can result in much more damage to them. Someone spazzing a straight ankle lock will just roll around in circles.

Granted, leg attacks will end up with MUCH more damage to the legs than the upper body if they hurt themselves.

They're outlawed in bjj tournaments for stupid various political reasons, not because of reasonable reasons.

What kind of leg lock? Knee bars, yes and no. It depends on you. I feel pain in knee bars before they damage me. Also in sambo, they won't let us do kneebars until waaaaayyyyy later. I've been doing it for almost 2 years and they are only recently letting me apply knee bars. Ankle locks will hurt long before it damages you.

Either way, Its not smart having noob white belts using ankle locks. The reason for our gym staying away from leg locks is that we work all day and if we fuck our ankles = no work = no paycheck :(
