Never read a graphic novel until recently. Started reading the Preacher series and loving it. Friend had a copy, I gave it a gander and glad I did, it's good stuff. I went to Border and Barnes and Noble so I could peruse their selections, found some other titles that I recognized from the comic recommendation thread. Tempted on buying the Fables series, Y series and Transmetropolitan series.

I have a feeling this is going to be an expensive new habit. Store prices suck, but Amazon has a lot of the titles for around $10. I need to check out the local comic book store and see if anything is comparable in price.

Amazon is really good with their prices...
But something about having multiple people handling your comics before they're safe in your hands just doesn't feel right to me.

I always make runs to go pick up my stuff in person. And because we don't have anything worthwhile in my town, the girlfriend, some friends and I usually make a day out of it.

    Welcome to the club!

I'm not too adverse with second hand comic books, but the newer the better obviously :bigthumb:
Do remember to support your lcs! I'd also recommend checking out a few online stores as well in your area.

Preacher is the greatest GN you'll find.

You know that we do WarSkrull, right? And upload/download comics, right? We're just saying if he's new, try buying some classic stuff first. Then if he wants to get into new stuff, join us in a bit of piracy :o

Yea I think I'd like to buy some of the classic stuff. I'm all for piracy but don't have anything to share myself :hs: I'm not really big on reading stuff on my laptop but I might be going back to Korea for work and it's impossible to find graphic novels over there at a decent price.

    I remember you :eek3:

That's what I'm thinking. I think I want to budget around $200-$250 and get 2 more series after I am done with Preacher :o

If you like Fables, you'll be confused by but enjoy Transmetropolitan.

I have the worst OCD with this. I hate even the tiniest spine creases or thumb marks. I honestly wish I didn't care.

Oh yeah, for GNs and manga they have the best deals for sure. I don't nerd out so much on those as far as condition, so even used ones work for me.
