Weston and I just finished acquiring furniture for the media room, but because we didn't plan ahead when we built the house, we have no way to wire the speakers into the ceiling right now, without getting a professional in. We'll do that later, but as a result, we now have wires we need to cover. :hs:

So, in the meantime, we need to go ahead and find an area rug in the 8x10 range (not much bigger, but 8x8 would work).

I like my browns - most of the house is some variation on brown/blue and I was hoping to get away from blue as an accent colour, but most of the rugs I've seen that I like have blue in them. I hate being stuck on one colour theme throughout the house, oh, and Weston has already vetoed pink. :mamoru:

So I need something somewhat masculine, soft, and attractive.

An idea of the colours in the room. My camera is dead or I'd take updated pics.

    With this couch now.

So far, I've looked at Target, Wal-Mart's higher end rugs (although I can't find any of them in the store), Lowe's, Ikea, BB&B, Linens and Things and have come up pretty empty on this one.

Our budget is about $300 - $350. Anyone have any idea of where else we should look?

I'd check out Crate & Barrel's shag rugs in a cream color. They'll go with your space perfectly and provide some much-needed contrast to that couch. Plus they're soft :hs:

You'll end up spending a few hundred more than you wanted, but you'll get something a lot more chic than anything you'll find at those other places :hs:

Could you make 8x5 work? :hs:

    Thanks, Ceddy.

Unfortunately, it won't, but yeah - that's exactly what I was hoping to find. The room is 13' x 14', and the distance from the couch to the media cabinet is 7'6", so it would leave the short side in front of the couch.

What do you know about Flokatis?

buy it online and have them deliver :coold:

You may also want to take a look at their hand-knotted rugs or the ones with varied thicknesses of yarn :coold:

I love these pebble-style shags. They're a bit pricey, but you'd end up paying 4-5x what they cost here at DWR :hs:
