Are you supposed to box squat more than you free squat?

    'Cause I do. Not a huge amount, my box squat is maybe 110% of my free squat. I know it uses more hams/glutes etc but I'd say those muscles are pretty weak on me :dunno:

    I was sitting back and pausing. It was a low box too, below parallel.

    yeah, I don't box squat as much either. A good 40 or so lbs less

    it's not uncommon to box squat as much as your raw squat
     
  13. Well its not common either, sure I know people that do but its typically because of fear or bad form.

    If you box squat more than you free one of the problems could be that you dont stay tight in the hole.

    i think it's normal if all you ever do is box squat and you never free squat

    I normally have a 50-75lb carryover from box to free squat myself. IMO you should not be specializing doing box squats only unless you're pushing elite

    I can see that, you won't be used to having to stay tight and support the weight as much since you are used to haveing the box under you all the time.

    mine was for a while but now i freesquat every other me/squat day and fixed that

    free squat, deficit DL, box squat, flat DL, repeat!

    First time I've ever box squatted in my life :o just felt like changing it up. It's probably a form issue with free squats

    People at westside hardly ever free squat, I would say that perplexed is not using the same form free squating as he is box squating, or his form just sucks in general.
    For example, when i free squat my form sucks, so, I will be free squating much more in the coming months...:bigthumb:
