assume that on July 1, a new iPhone is released.
3.0 software, 32GB, 3.2MP Camera, Faster OS and processor, Significantly faster internet.
Forget all the speculative wishlist stuff (forward facing camera, prints french fries, dispenses ketchup)
    Assume it's $200 - $500 with a contract.

    Will you get one?
Do you have an iPhone? a first gen or 3G?

For me, if the above is true, then yes.
i have a first-gen, and it's awesome except for the slowness.
as much as i would like to try new phones (new blackberries, new samsungs, etc)....i think it's the apps & iTunes integration that keep me hooked.

Don't have one currently, and I would get one if the keyboard wasn't such a bitch to use... I'd like a physical QWERTY keyboard if I could. :hs:

i'll get one for sure, no questions asked. owned the first gen then upgraded to the 3g which is what i have currently. i will probably wait a couple weeks though so they can iron out any kinks they have like last year.

They are talking about releasing a phone (inferior to the 3G) for Verizon that could come as early as 2010. Also some media pad thing.

If it's superior to the 3G and still for AT&T (which I switched to for the 3G) then I'll get it. I had the original (unlocked) then got the 3G when it came out so I'd get the 3rd gen.

Nope. If I can't jailbreak and unlock it, I'm not interested. I'm happy with my 1st Gen 3G.

i'm currently using a jailbroken first-gen - as cool as having NES/SNES/Genesis/Gameboy on my phone is, i'd give it up for fast internet, a better battery and a faster OS.

I recently decided to go legit after being jailbroken since it was first possible on the first gen. I don't regret it yet. Apps are cheap enough, there's less clutter because I download less crap, and I can appreciate the apps I have more. :hs:

nothing but fucking rumors. Now there's a rumor that Microsoft is gonna build a phone for Verizon. Not just a WinMo OS for a phone, but an actual device designed by them with some kind of Zune OS.

There was also a rumor about some kind of apple tablet for Verizon. I don't like Verizon, with their crippled phones and shitty Vcast crap, and the fact that they're not GSM.

I'm military, so I travel often, I like to be able to use my phone in other countries.

I had the 1st Gen, and now 3G, will most likely get the new iPhone.

The only jailbroken apps I use are PDANet, Winterboard, Yellowsn0w, and VoIP Over 3G. I own a legit apps too and use them too.

I mean the iPhones with Baseband 5.9 or greater (September 2008 and on?)

I won't be upgrading to the 'newest' of iphones...I have a 3G now.

Though...if my son wants to upgrade from his BJII to an iphone then I'll take his upgrade. ;)

i'm going to try and sell my 1st-gen; i don't expect to get much for it, since it's nicely scratched up on the back. also, it's a 2-year old phone :p

I've got a 1st gen still so it's very likely that I'll be upgrading when the new one comes out. Pains me a little to get into another 2 year contract with AT&T
