    Typically?

I met these swedes who are friends of friends and they flipped their shit when i told them I shoot, but I convinced them to try it once.

I didn't think there was anything prohibiting it :dunno:

I know whenever I go to pay ranges they hold onto your license while you shoot. I guess they could show their passports.:dunno:

I remember reading a news story about a range in LA that catered to Asian business travelers, going so far as to advertise in the in-flight magazines and in overseas airports in Asia with flights to LA ... seems there are plenty of Japanese and Koreans that have seen Dirty Harry movies and want to try their hand at the .44 magnum, or just see and fire a gun - something most of them can't do in their home countries.

None of the ranges I've visited in the Dallas area require proof of citizenship, but some want membership paperwork and some form of ID when you register.

I don't think there are any laws prohibiting citizens from other nations from shooting guns in the states.

Everytime I go to the range they just ask for my name. I've only had to show my ID once and that was when I went for the first time. Then, they ask for what type of gun I am shooting and the brand of ammo. That's all they care about. :big grin:

You can have kids shoot at ranges. I dont see why they wouldnt allow a foreigner to.

What are gun controls like in sweden anyway?

indoor range I goto they copy down your DL # when you sign in so I dunno how it would work if you didnt have a license. Outdoor range you just pay at the gate and thats it, I've taken a couple foreigners there.

The girl was at first shocked I owned guns, but said she wasn't adverse to at least trying it.

Apparently no one has guns over there, they think it is "bizarre," but I confused Sweden and Switzerland (which arms all citizens).

If i can convert one foreigner I have done my job :o

The NRA Range just said passports work fine and shouldn't cause an issue at all.

i shot at an indoor range in Indiana when i visited a few months ago... it was no trouble, i just watched the safety movie (lol) and payed my money.

the only funny looks i got was when i explained to them the tight-ass gun laws in Aus.

My range doesn't ask for shit. It's just a big hole in the side of a hill where you can do whatever. :mamoru:

Many police in Sweden, much like Britain, don't even carry guns.
Obviously SOME do, but many dont, like traffic cops.

for me though it isnt very interesting yet. Mosin 91/30 and Savage .17HMR are not very odd sounding, people just assume they are hunting rifles or target rifles. Soon though Ill be able to throw the infamous 'AK-47' into the mix :big grin:

I'm in MA and even I can brign foreigners. MA law has a clause that states that anyone who would otherwise be prohibited from posessing/shooting guns would be allowed to if under direct supervision of someone who is legally licensed. I brought my friend and his Finnish friend, they loved it.

QFT. I've been to the range in Ocala, FL a few times with my uncle (he has enough guns to arm the French army) and we see some real idiots. One of the worst was a guy in his 40's pull up in a rusty old jeep, jump out with an SKS already in hand.

He goes to the back of the jeep to pull out more ammo, and a little kid (maybe 10-12?) jumps out of the passenger side with a little bolt action .22, runs up to the firing line and starts shooting at random targets that people had left. Dad walks up and starts blasting with the SKS at the same random targets. No hearing or eye protection, no targets... Just walked up and started blasting. Stayed for about 10 minutes, then jumped in the rusty jeep and sped off.

 We had something happen like that here in Tallahassee. Some black guy walked up to the firing line and pulled an ak out of his sweat pants. Not sure how he had it to where it stayed in there, but he just fired off some rounds then left.

My wife's cousin visited from Sweden last summer. I figured they might like to go shooting considering the crazy gun laws over there. They reacted like I expected them to hold the targets or something. A combination of fear and disgust with a little snobbery thrown in to top it off. They ended up being some of the worst house guests I've ever had. I went to the range anyway...
