Jesus, every place I go to lift...literally everyone there is already jacked. I'm like the only person who looks like they actually could use going to the gym. I mean, everyone starts somewhere....so where the hell are the skinny people? I feel self-conscious when I go there and I'm pulling off 45 lb things off of every bar to do my pathetic little set. :o

it's not stopping me...it just blows my mind how everybody in there already looks great. I don't get how i'm 5'11 163....and i'm significantly smaller than literally everybody in the gym. I mean I'm skinny, but I feel like I shouldn't be alone....you'd think other people would be starting up too.

Don't worry about it. Might just be the time you go, or it might just be they stand out.

I see a good mix of both at my gym.

I'm one of the skinny guys (5'10" about 170). There are plenty of guys smaller than me there and plenty of guys bigger. Don't be so worried about everybody else and just go in and do your thing.

There will always be someone able to lift more/ bigger than you.

I remind myself of that whenever I catch myself starting to get into an ego state (sometimes I have to be told).

You're right, we all start somewhere. You already have. :bigthumb:

I wouldnt sweat it. Take it from a fellow Jersey guy that not everyone in that gym is bigger then you. If you focus solely on how small you think you are and not the work out you are wasting your time

I used to be that "what the hell am I doing in here with these meatheads?" kid who could barely bench 80 pounds... no joke, I used to do reps of 65 on bench when I started out. I go to a real gym with a 45-pound barbell and load up a 25 on each side and I pinned myself.

I'm by no means big, and a lot of people might mistake me for a beginner when compared to the bigger guys, but I know what I'm doing and I'm proud of my body

Most people at my school gym seem decently big. I am not that big but I'd say just keep lifting and don't worry about what other people think. At least you are in there trying to get bigger.

i don't go lift until after i get off work which is around 1:15am or so and there are only a handful of people around, typically the same people I see every time I go...which is nice - no one is really using what I need to use so I can get in and get out and not worry about other people/distractions. just keep in mind the people that you see that are already big have been doing it for a while...results aren't going to develop over night.

    Right here :wavey:
I've been lifting weights for a decent while, but I'm still really skinny. I don't think I'll ever be "real big", but not everyone wants to look like Jay Cutler either. Screw everyone else, at least you're working on it. Also you can always go check out the fatties on the bikes, that should make you feel better.

My gym has a ton of normal people, as well as old people. There are only a few "big" guys at the gym I go to. It's probably just your area.

thats what I'm doing right now. I'm getting in decent shape working out with fly weights in my house.

I figure that when I get to the point where I'm putting up all the weight that I have in my house and can't add anymore weight it will force my ass to join a gym and get a real workout :wiggle:
