Are there any nice HDTV's that don't have a worthless lower speaker set?

I'm seriously shopping for a nice HDTV as of late and I'm most impressed with the projection TV's I've seen. However, they've all got a lower speaker set, which I'd just end up turning off cause I've already assembled a nice sound system. Is there anything in production that's geared towards a buyer who could really give a shit about the stock sound?

I doubt it. You are almost always going to be better off going with a seperate reciever/speaker/subwoofer combo.

My Samsung DLP set is a tabletop design with rather small speakers in the cabinet. Though I think the cabinet design doesn't have the size constraints that CRT rear projection units do, hence the size difference.

remember, tv manufacturer's don't care about what their tv's sound like, they care about what their tv's look like.

Yeah, think some of you are missing the point of this thread. I want a projection tv that doesn't have a lower speaker at all.

I don't understand why you would even need to worry about the tv's built in speakers if you already have a nice audio system put together

I haven't even listened to any of the speakers on any of the HDTV's I've looked at. In fact, on my current Monitor, I havent once hooked up a pair of rca cables to listen to its onboard speakers.

unless you go plasma, all large frame TV's come with speakers.

if you want something smaller, like a tabletop big screen without the BS of plasma, LCD and DLP projection systems are a great way to go.

The answer is no, or at least I've never seen one except on some older RPTV's but nothing you would want to pruchase now :hs:
