GUN Are the HS Precision stocks Remington uses any good?

    I personally don't like them, but I suppose you could do worse.

    I would float the barrel like I meant it, and bed it if it were me.... Maybe even consider sinking a carbon arrow shaft in the forend for extra stiffness.
     
  2. Thanks. I called my favorite local shop, and they had a couple of used 700s that they wanted like $700 for, which is crazy. They had that new VS SF II, and I figured if the stock was good I might be able to just keep that, and ream the chamber to AI and maybe get away with 69gr. bullets in the 1:12 twist. There's a pawn shop near where I work that I hear sells lots of rifles, I'm gonna check them out after work and hopefully find something used for less than $700.

    How much would it cost to just have a chamber reamed to AI if I wanted to try it with the stock barrel first? I'm clueless when it comes to bolt gun stuff.

    I like the HS on my Savage 10FCP really well. It is a different design they Remington uses however, at least on that rifle.
