Are terry clothes done once you use them for waxing or can you clean them?

They can be washed. Don't use fabric softener on them. It'll leave residue that streaks the paint.

Also, invest in microfiber. It's a good switch from terry.

The only terry cloth towels i use are for REALLY dirty work and interiors.
Then they get a good therough washing, with "free" detergent, and ocasionally Castrol Super Clean if they get into somthing nasty. Usually a double rince cycle, then into the dryer (with no dryer sheet of course).

Terry NEVER touches my paint, there is WAY to much risk of scratching and swirls.

Switch up to microfiber. Its worth every penny.
