When you say dampening, do you mean dampening as in a
    loudspeaker-design speaker dampening?

Or do you mean as in exterior vibration sound-deadening?

If you mean sound deadening, then yeah they work fine if
    you are thorough with them.

But if you mean speaker design dampening, then no, they aren't
going to be very effective. For that type of dampening, you are
better off using any one of the standard insulation methods.
    Foam, wool, polyester fill, etc.

yeah second skin is the good stuff (i bought some "other" brand :\ for my liquid, i think im also going to try out their ceramic liquid formula when I get around to doing my firewall)

hint:when working on old/classic cars do your entire interior with liquid deadening over every square inch to protect the metal from rust.
