The only issue I have ever had was the cable between the face and the radio itself had a short. The only thing that was effected by that was it wouldnt close so the faceplate was permanatly open (I had the one that slid down so it wasent an issue). I eventually fixed it and it was 60 bucks. I have been using Poineer for 20 years and thats the ONLY issue I have ever had.

Im looking at a Panasonic right now but only because of the difference in price Vs features. I am probably going to end up with another pioneer.

i've seen pioneers older than that one still working(and looking) like new, and i've seen newer... where the knobs won't respond, or they won't eject.... from being around both brands at work... the pioneer people replace theirs, every year or 2, and the alpine people usually go 5 to 7 years(unless they just want what's s new.).

panasonic's build quality is right up there, but the low end models are so bland... if you go panasonic, get a higher end model... don't cheap out, like most of our panasonic customers.

pioneer and panasonic are both good mid-grade head units, imo.

    I really like alpine, tho.

I have used pioneer and some of their higher end decks are nice. Personally I like alpine. They may not be as flashy but it seems like the internals are their main focus which matter the most to me.

The higher end pioneers are awesome. The Alpines are a close second althow I dont like the controls on them as much as the Pioneers.

Good brands of car audio receivers. Alpine makes a decent piece, but since it is made by Alpine, they tend to cost a bit more. We've had REALLY good luck with the Clarion/Panasonic/JVC lines, especially once you get away from the bottom tier of their product lines

speaking of JVC, this is from an eclipse rep... their entry level deck is made by hyundai, you can put the eclipse faceplate on the equal JVC unit... kinda like nak and sony back in the day.

Is this only true of their entry level equipment or does it also pertain to some of their mid level products?

I have a lower end pioneer in my GF's car and she and I both love it.

The newer ones are having problems. There for a while they were having ground inssues with their unbalenced RCA's.

Hyundai made the first Rockford decks too, if I remember correctly.

I hate the UI on the Pioneers.

I put an Alpine CDA-9883 in my wife's truck & it's a nice enough deck. I used Alpine a lot when I first got into mobile audio but changed to Eclipse when I started competing. Factory deck with a Rockford 360.2 now.
