I've had my MBP for less than a year, and i only have 46% health left after 256 cycles. Can i ask for a new one under the initial warranty?

In most cases batteries are not covered under the warranty.aybe if you're really nice to the guy at the Genius Bar they'll give you a new one. After that many charge cycles one would expect it to be down a bit but maybe not that much. Have you tried totally draining it and fully charging it several times to see if that helps?

I had mine replaced a couple days ago. Made an appointment at the Genius Bar and they saw it -1 mAh capacity. My MBP is under warranty and they replaced the battery with no charge.

I got mine replaced this week after it failed completely, 2 days out of warranty. Called apple, played nice with the lady, got a case number, and went to the nearby apple store to pick up a new one.

My work always upgrades to the NuPower batteries when they're released as they are much better quality. Longer battery life and they last more charge cycles. Sadly they haven't released batteries for the MacBook or MacBook Pro yet.
