It seems as if though its perfectly acceptable for a girl to not have many hobbies of her own or really superficial ones like "shopping" and "hanging out with friends". As for a guy, if he had those hobbies he would mostly be considered boring by the other gender. Its almost expected for a guy to introduce a girl to new, interesting and adventurous things and it's a quality most girls look for and they often times adapt these activities as their own if they date the guy. It's expected for a guy to be a more interesting person. Is this just my view or do you guys also feel like this?

I see a lot of guys bitching in the main about their girls not having any hobbies, so not, i don't think it's acceptable but it happens.

actually your response in the other thread about nonphysical turnoffs prompted me to write this thread. JJJ said about how he didn't like girls that didn't have passion for anything and your response was this:

and it was just interesting to me because if a guy was in question this option would have never come up for a girl, she would label him instantly as a loser or boring.

Well it can go both ways, he was speaking about a female, and if a girl made that comment I would say the same thing.

And he said he was ruling a girl out for not knowing about HIS chosen hobby, so, I can see what you are saying, but it's not really the same thing as what you are talking about.

I think one of the pickup guys (someone from MM or Love Systems or whatever it's called now???) mentioned how women "want to be pulled into your world" or something like that.

(Most) chicks LOVE that stuff for some reason. I swear, if you tell a chick that you:

    - Love to travel
    - and love to do anything that is an "adventure"

she will instantly fall in love with you.

    Seriously.

When you say "travel" her eyes widen, and when you follow it up with "adventure" in the next sentence, her pupils dilate.

Maybe that's a variant of the man being the "leader." :dunno:

Generally speaking, I agree with you.

I like chicks who happen to coincidentally have the same interests as me. Or, if not, and I introduce them to something new, I want them to like it because it's cool and not because of me.

    :dunno:

I've never thought about this, but I think you are right.

Might have something to do with the fact that up until the last 60ish years, single men (vs. single women) were the only ones who could afford to travel and do awesome cool things (even doing free activities like hiking in the Narnia-forest that is the cliffs around Niagara Falls still costs money for a car+gas+etc) :dunno:

Or simply because girls don't have to do almost anything but be attractive for a guy to want to get with them :dunno:

I don't see what's so shocking about that statement; it's common knowledge.

I didn't think you were in the "the only thing women have to do is be pretty" camp.

So you don't have hobbies of your own (as in you did them before you fiance came along)? All you do is sit around being pretty?

See this was my first thought to, but figured that women must have hobbies, else wtf fun is life?

Plus that doesn't explain ugly women, they can't even sit around being pretty  (and there sure are a lot of ugly women around)

God no! I've always hated how boring most girls are; though I'm not sure who I hate more-them, or the girls more who have no interests and just take on all their bf's interests as their own

It's great to have an interest in what your SO likes, but I'm a huge believer in having your own shit going on. This at least goes hand in hand with me being independent and my SO and I continually doing our own things. Tonight he's going to a basketball game while I try out this new bike trail near my house.

I dont date girls with out hobbies.

Because I become their only hobby and that's only fun for about 6mo.

However in general, OP speaks troof.

It seems like for a lot of girls, dating is their hobby. Kinda sad if you ask me, but hey, thats just my opinion.

Well, to me a guy who'd be content with an uninteresting partner is far from desirable himself... I know people aren't attracted to my looks more than my personality, so what IWYWB described has not been my experience. I certainly don't approach meeting people with the expectation that my personality won't matter and I can't imagine any of my female friends do either.

Attractive women, yeah absolutely. The hottest girl i dated didn't know shit about shit, but it didn't matter..just being hot made her an "interesting" person to most. She could talk about her day, which consisted of going shopping then watching crappy reality tv shows, and people would be hanging on her words. Thems the breaks.
