they're fine as long as you get the 'extra light syrup' or whatever...which is just water/fruit juice.

check the nutrition facts to make sure there's no added sugar, corn syrup etc.

not really. Even with light syrup, which is usually sucrose or high fructose cornsyrup based, that just too much fructose.

the reason that sucrose is not particularly good for you is the fact that its half fructose. Your body only needs and can reasonably metabolism a small amount of fructose each day.

fructose is used to induce diabetes in animals and is the only sugar that does not require insulin to be stored as fat.

fresh fruits do contain phytonutrients that to a varying extent offset this. Still large amounts of fresh fruit are also not conducive to weight loss.

If you have to eat canned fruit, make sure it's the kind without added sugar.

Define 'large amount'. If it's in g of fructose, there's still a bunch that can be eaten.

That's dumb. People complain about fruits but eat pure glucose/maltodextrine without thinking about it twice. :ugh:

then people that do that are dumb. not the idea of avoiding fruits when you are trying to lower your caloric intake. If i'm going to take in added sugars from fructose i'd prefer to get it from honey or sweet potatoes rather than tree fruit or berries

    Why ? Personal preference ?
All I'm saying is that there's no reason to be afraid of fruits.
