I'm taking an African art and culture class this semester which has gotten me quite interested in scarification. I was wondering if anyone here has any done. I'm pretty fair skinned though, i've never seen it done to lighter skin.

I'm into self-scarification. I get really artistic with some designs, I'm mid-process on a scar on my chest right now that's eventually going to span all the way across....I'm rather fair-skinned, almost to the point of being pale, but it still shows up, and stays visible for a while.

For some reason Synner's post just reminded me that I used to cut myself and put ink into the small cuts when I was a teen:noes: Thankfully I never done it deep enough to stay any more than a month because there was nothing artistic about any of them :ugh2:

I really like the idea of scarification but I think its to freakiness of it that attracts me to it more so than tattoos :hs:

Won't the scars physically fade over time, just to leave a colored imprint?

edit - colored as in light pink compared to the old darker skin

It depends on what you use to scar yourself with. If you get a cauterising pen or white hot metal... it will last.

from what I understand it is still mostly dependent on the person. Some people scar well others dont.

The methods I listed are pretty fucking extreme...

cauterizing pens are becoming more and more popular now. our shop picked one up about a year ago. i've never used it but our other piercer has and she said its good for doing detailed scars.

I am thinking about getting a scarification. I've been looking more and more into them. I think it's awesome.
