Looks like something I'd want to build. I'm gonna start bringing in parts for one soon. I think that I'll probably just do a detachable carry handle for now though. And no flash light. Don't need to go tactic-cool yet ;)

I want an AR so bad, but I can't justify the money for one yet. :hs:

you're not trying very hard, then.

Glock, Rem 870, AR.... Those are 3 things that should be in EVERYONEs arsenal. If you don't have one, you need one!

    8.5/10 :o

Couple of things left out, but pretty good overall.

If it's a middy, that's a 9 inch rail. Magpul winter trigger guard, recoil pad, ladder rail covers, and a Viking Tactics offset light mount.

Either way, it's a bit more than a beginner really needs to spend. I built mine that way because I knew I didn't want to buy another AR, so I bought everything I wanted. It's easier, and sometimes cheaper to build over time.

eh, I would just say every one needs a rifle pistol and shotgun. For me its going to be AK, CZ97, and dunno about the shotgun yet.

Question......I'm pricing out uppers, but I'm not seeing any (so far) that come in a carbine length barrel WITH a rail system. Seems the one's I'm finding are just hand guards? Anyone recommend a site that would have more choices?

EDIT: I'd like to use a 16 inch barrel, flat top and a rail system similar to this

I asked this before, but never got an answer... did you sand the slide yourself, or is that an aftermarket slide?

Sorry, I never saw that question before. I polished the slide myself. It had a nasty case of holster rash, so I polished it all myself. Which is why I love my ghost holster.

It's pretty easy to do, but it's painstakingly long. It took me a few lazy hours. And if you don't keep up on it, it will rust, caveat. I wipe it down with a oil rag before putting it in the safe.

I did it with the notion that I could always durocoat it later if need be for $50. I see places it has very faint rusting, I just take a green pad to it. It looks cool as shit. I get comments at my matches all the time for it. It's two toned finished. I get a ton of folks that come up to me to ask about it.

You just basically take and place the sand paper on the work bench and take the slide in your hand and work it over the sand paper. I went from 100 grit to 600 grit. depends on how fine you want it. Don't try to do the opposite and put the slide down and put the paper in your hand, that takes too long.

I only did the sides of the slide, and it turned out really well. I also polished the barrel, and the barrel doesn't rust and has a very light coat, so it takes only 5 minutes to do the barrel.

I think that you might have just changed my mind on a longer barrel.

That looks much shorter than 11.5"

    I'm guessing 7.5"
