Sup guys. I had a 5.56 AR a while back that I had a ceiner 22 kit in and it was great fun. I switched to a 5.45 S&W upper and ditched the ceiner kit because I was told it wouldn't work. But now that I think about it, I'm wondering why it won't work? The 5.45 use the same BCG, just the bolt is different. The lower hasn't changed at all. Will the .22 not work in the 5.45 barrel?
    Any help is appreciated. :wavey:

  2. The 5.45 uses a .220 diameter bullet. The 5.56 uses a .224 diameter bullet. My guess is that this is the reason it won't work.

Ah, the damn chamber. That's what I figured initially too, but since the 5.56 bolt group works, just not the bolt itself, I figured the adapter wouldn't matter either, since it replace the entire BCG.

I just bought the rest of the stuff for a complete 22LR dedicated upper for a little over $200. $380-$400 total if you count the CMMG 22 kit.

The basic .22 kits would be pretty easy to switch the chamber adapters. But like MG said, you'd need one that fit in a 5.45 chamber. That said, I'm not sure if the ID of .220 in the 5.45 barrel would work with .22LR bullets :dunno:

Yeah, I think no matter what the barrel would be an issue.
Oh well, would have been fun.
