Just bought my lower receiver yesterday (Double Star) and placed my order for the lower parts kit and collapsable stock.

This is the first (of hopefully many) AR15 that I have ever built. I figure I'll buy the upper and some accessories with income tax money.

You guys have any tips or suggestions?

In for this as well, gonna be picking up a lower this week :coold:

Yet to decide on a stock, whether I want the 2 stage trigger or not, and what trigger gaurd (want one with more room for gloves) and grip (probably a hogue) to get.

Heads up for people looking for a nice trigger. Talked with CMMG this weekend and they gave me a heads up on a drop in match trigger they will have out in less than a couple weeks. They have not told people about this and I am first on the list and I am not 100% sure on the price as of yet.

About the lower Double Star is meh. Some people have good luck while others have not so good luck with them. I personally have had 2 customers unable to attach a CMMG and RRA upper to them without some tooling.

And If you are looking for an upper we can hook you up. Send me a PM

Send me a PM when you get a date/price on those triggers. Comparable to the RRA 2 stage trigger, correct?

Are the two stage triggers really worth the extra money? I decided to build the AR the way I want it the first time through instead of doing a budget build now and a nice one later :o

No it is their own in house design. I spent a lot of time with Jeff this weekend and he said it will the hot ticket for drop in triggers.

Yes, worth every penny. Once you shoot an AR with a 2 stage match trigger its hard to go back

Awesome, geissele's is supposed to be out in the next couple weeks and be like $145 and built like a tank. It sounds like we're going to have some good durable 2 stage options soon.

There are TONs of different brands or "logos" out there. I think there are only 4-5 manufactures.

Colt and Bushmasters are ASSAULT WEAPONS~~!!!! *scary and dangerous*

CA defines assault weapons two ways...if they are named on a list by make and model...and by features. Bushmaster and Colt is listed as assault rifles.

No, I am just answering your question of why you cant have them in CA. It is because they are labeled as assault rifles because of their make and model.

    cali bans weapons 2 way

either by features, like magazine release button and pistol grip, which is why you see weird grips and stock and the like in cali.

or 2, by make and model, so cali law makers have gone and put bushmaster and colt on the banned list, while leaving some others less known brands off the list.

    Its legal mumbo jumbo.
