Was wondering if anyone had some feedback about the DPMS Panther Sportical (.223). Price is certainly right assuming it's not a piece of shit. I'm new to rifles and this would be my first AR purchase...basically just for some fun ass weekends at the range.

Any personal experiences? Feedback I've read from googling and stumbling into other forums seems to generally be pretty positive. :dunno:

No first hand experience, but I haven't heard anything about DPMS that would make me pick them over bushy, rra, cmmg, etc

Price is my main limiting factor. I'd love to spend $800 or less.

$900 or so shipped + FFL fees or OTD is likely my absolute ceiling. :hs:

    Get a S&W MP15, then.

I have heard negative reviews of DPMS products. I would only buy them in the event they had something I couldn't get elsewhere.

Really? I was looking forward to saving the $150 or so. :sad2:

But it's definitely worth it if DPMS makes a crappy rifle.

Another noob question...can you get assembled upper and lowers shipped directly to you, or do you have to go through a FFL?

i got my S&W MP15 for $799 last year, and S&W gave me a few extra 30rnd mags as part of a rebate. currently they've even got a $100 mail-in-rebate on the MP15 rifles. DO IT!

  13. It would make a fine plinking rifle. I wouldn't take it into combat or anything, but it's not a bad rifle, and if you can get it for a good price, then go for it. I was looking at one while I was at a gun store this week.

    Thanks for the info.

May just pull the trigger on the MP15, especially if that mail in rebate is going on.

DPMS makes some good stuff. Their lo pro receivers are thicker on the side opposite the ejection port. Most receivers are beer can thin there. I like DPMS stuff.

Looks like I have justification for buying it sooner than I originally planned too, which is great...makes more sense to jump on that rebate than to wait until I have more disposable income, I think. :hs:
