In light of the current group buy, I'm going to replace the crap 4pos stock on my cmmg and I can't decide between the sopmod and PRS. I will need a new buffer tube because I want a 6pos, so that must be factored into the cost. I'm also not a tall guy, resting my cheek on the standard stock and looking through my eotech which isn't on a riser is comfortable for me.

Which should I get and why?

I'm going SOPMOD. I am a tall guy though and I'm getting it with the whole lower.

Seems like you're comparing two very different products to me.

My thoughts exactly. The PRS, IIRC, is not a '6 position' style stock. While it is adjustable, it's not really collapsible.

Oh, the PRS isn't collapsible...the back plate can be extended but the stock is fixed... :o I'm dumb.

Which is wider? The PRS or the sopmod? I think I'm leaning towarda the PRS because of its greater adjustability and the fact that I won't have to switch out my buffer tube.

I would say it depends on the barrel length and overall style of your AR. Pics of your AR first would help.

    Your mother.
side question, what all would you need to pickup for the PRS? Milspec buffer tube, buffer, and spring?

I'd say SOPMOD then. I think the PRS looks better on the longer barreled rifles with some form of FF rail or tube.

After googling the install directions for the PRS, it can't be mounted to a 4/6pos buffer tube. It must be a standard rifle length tube. Just an FYI.

LMT SOPMOD. The PRS belongs on an AR-15 rifle.

But really, buy both and build two AR-15s. :bigthumb:

Seriously, you need to try out both. The balance on your rifle may be different with each stock.

    best advice here :o

In reality the prs and sopmod are for completely different applications.

best way to exemplify it is think CQB for the sopmod and think sniper for the PRS.. there I said it. hate hate hate hate

agreed. sopmod is better. the prs looks like it's made for a precision rifle.

Definitely SOPMOD. VLTOR EMOD is just like SOPMOD only a tiiiiny bit higher. And a lot cheaper too. But if you really want a SOPMOD then now is the time because chakup has an insane price on them.

True story- percentage wise this is one of the bigger cuts as far as cost/retail.
