I wouldn't think so but I wondered if there were any studies.

We monopod off the mag all the time. Those that shoot tac optic class like to monopod off a 40 rounder with a arredondo basepad. It's the right height for some. I prefer to monopod off two 30 rounders with arredondo basepads.

Now some trainers teach not to monopod off the mag as it can cause a misfeed. I say you have to test with your rifle and your mags. If any of my mags would misfeed if monopoded on I would say that mag could misfeed if I bumped it against a baricade or other sillyness and would not use that mag in the first place.

You may have misfeeds due to tweaking the mag. I would try it and see if you do or not. It's probably going to vary due to different mags and such.

    What yar sez.

Not propping on the mag is old military doctrine from when they had millions of mags from different USGI producers of varying quality. With modern guns and properly set mag catch springs, and modern quality mags, any mag that is shown to jam when used as a casual rest should be considered unreliable.

I've done it and haven't experienced any issues. Was using a GripPod for a while, but monopoding gets me closer to the ground.

I mono pod off my mag all the time and as a result found that a number of my pmags do not lock the bolt back the the last round, Whig is kind of a huge paint in the ass in the prone position.

Only 2 out of 30 pmags have exhbited this problem. Test your gear. Do not assume because you use X brand everything is gonna be ok

It is much easier to monopod off some sort of basepad. I keep asking ralphie to make some for the pmag. He finally got around to modding his mag clap for the pmag. Ill shit
