I'm over at my parents house and my 55 year old dad tells me he want's to get an "assault weapon" before they are banned and starts asking me all kinds of questions about cali legal AR's. He hasn't even bought a gun in like 15 years since he got his Colt 1911 :noes: I almost feel guilty having him pay $1400 for a $800 AR since I have an extra lower sitting here

If you're like most of us, you've been telling people to buy AR's and AK's since Obama announced he was running for this very reason.

My mother did the same thing, she asked me recently how much an AR or two would cost and when I told her, she said "I thought back in September, you said they were only..." and "Well don't you have more than one...?"

Snoozers are losers. Plenty of stuff I wanted that I couldn't afford and will probably end up paying out the nose by the time I can. I don't feel that bad for the folks who can afford this stuff but brushed us off as paranoid for predicting the frenzy.

Get 'em while you still can

  7. As has been discussed before, that was from 2007. Also, the court challenges to stripping people of constitutional rights (specifically the 2nd amendment, which would require direct physical action, rather than something like a wiretap which is much easier to conduct in secret/without the knowledge of the target) just because they're on a list would be impossible to overcome.

my dad is just getting on the AR bandwagon too; well, i'm helping him onto it.

one of the 3 AR lowers i got in oct 08 i planned to be for him, and i got in on the stag group buy as soon as i heard about it.

when he was in the gun store picking up the receiver after the 10 day wait he saw a built AR10 and called to ask me about them. while we were on the phone he said someone else walked up and said they'd buy it.

    hes got BRD already

do you think he's changed his mind since then?

he's now in a higher position in Government with more influence

Also, Bush had no problems going around the Constitution via Executive Order when it came to warrantless wiretapping

  10. I doubt he has. But there is a great chasm between his desire and what's politically doable.

As to the wiretapping, like I said, there's a difference between just telling someone to tap a line and telling someone to actually go somewhere and disarm people.

    i'm not talking disarming

i'm talking about going into a gun shop to buy a handgun and being told you can't have one because you are in the terrorist database

also the possible assault weapons ban speaks for itself

    ARs are so gay

  15. Yeah, who wants a reliable, modular, accurate weapon platform that's capable of handling scores of calibers and can be used for anything from CQB to 1000+ yard target shooting?

thats fine. and plenty of other rifles do that for half the price. the reality of the situation is 99% of AR owners know nothing about rifles and bought them just because everyone else has one and they look cool. case in point: fr0ng

  18. Obviously fr0ng is an idiot. What other rifles can do everything I listed for half the cost of an AR? Since there are "plenty" of them, you shouldn't have a hard time listing, say, 3 or 4 of them.

Yea I built my first one for around $800 so that gives 400 for him to chose from :hsugh: Not even my bolt action is that cheap

    ibruger10/22

  22. That would fail basically ALL of the categories I listed for him.
