I'm going to be building my first AR (first to own/first to build). I've been trying to research on ar15.com, and I have a pretty complete list, but for some reason I think I'm missing something/a few things. Can anyone help me determine what I'm missing from the list, if there is anything?

    Stag Arms Receiver
    RRA Lower Parts Kit
    RRA 6 Position Stock
    CMMG Chrome-lined 1/7 16" Barrel
    CMT A3 Flattop Receiver
    RRA Bolt Carrier Group
    RRA M4 Handguards
    RRA Charging Handle
    RRA Delta Ring
    RRA Gas Tube

I'm most sure if the lower parts kit comes with a pistol grip.

The buffer tube and spring were two minor things I didn't think about. Standard grip and trigger come with the LPK. BUIS, I'm looking at the ARMS #40.

So aside from the buffer and spring, are those all of the necessary parts to allow it to function properly?

You might pick up a front sight tool; you'll need it.

    And a barrel wrench.

the barrel SHOULD come with a barrel nut, delta ring, FSB, and gas tube. find out if it doesn't. if it doesn't, don't pay the same price as for a barrel that does have that stuff. several people now produce 1/7 16" barrels, so don't stop at CMMG just because they were the first you saw.

barrel/reciever block, bench-mounted vise, barrel wrench, torque wrench, ring-spreaders, moly-paste. those are the tools you'll need for barrel installation.

you'll also need a carbine stock wrench.

Footrat, who else makes the 1/7 barrel? I was trying to find others, but CMMG was the only one I saw people refer to on AR15.com. I think I saw someone mention BM, but I couldn't find a site that sales the BM barrels other than BM and the CMMG barrel was less expensive.

BM has done a limited run of the 16" 1/7 barrels. MSTN i think also does them. CMMG and LMT are the two most popular. mine is a DPMS, but it was a limited run through CMMG before they started selling them themselves. colt has also made them, but they're expensive and rare. shortly after i got mine, the BM group buy went through, and those people got theirs. shortly after that, manufacturers realized that 1/7 was the way to go, and LMT jumped on, and CMMG started offering them as a regular item.

    You're missing a 20" barrel.

    M4s look like toys.

The 20" will come later. This would be for home defense as well, so I would want something that would be easier to move around with in the house.

I have a stag lower with all RRA lower parts, and 6 pos. stock, and a complete 16" CMMG M4 upper, but I haven't shot it yet, as I'm waiting for my A.R.M.S. #40 to arrive. Why don't you just order a complete upper and lower, or are you really wanting to build it yourself?

I kind of want to build it. If I just bought a complete upper and lower I wouldn't cry over it though. I guess it might be a little less of headache since I haven't done it before. Plus this wouldn't be my last AR. I don't know, I might just buy a complete upper and build the lower.

How do you like the Stag lower? Does it match pretty well with the CCMG upper?

By the way, got the whole pic in your av or is that it?
