I've been wanting something for plinking and hunting have seen some bushmasters and etc in .308. What keeps you from using an AR in most states is it magazine capacity?

I was looking at a tikka in .308 for hunting down here and a m1a socom in .308 just for fun.

Now I'm think just chalk up the extra money for an ar in .308 with a heavy barrell and floating foregrip but not sure on the hunting apps.

why not just get either the M1A or the AR10 for both hunting and fun?
Both weapons are great for hunting.

That's what I was asking is if an AR-10 is legal for hunting... I think it is aslong as I don't cary a 20rd mag or anyhing and just have a 5 rd mag on it.

Sure is but each state has different rules regarding the use of semi autos. You will have to check yours to find out restrictions.
