I bought a MacBook in mid December. I have not purchased AppleCare yet. I understand I have until my factory warranty expires to buy it. Will AppleCare extend my warranty 3 years beyond the 1 year that has past? Or just add 2 year to make it 3 years total? I don't why this is confusing me so much  maybe its to early.

i think someone posted this very recently with a little graphic explaining it. it takes you to 3 years total, not adding 3 years to your existing warrantee.

Correct, it takes the warranty to 3 years from the original purchase date, it does not extend it from the date you purchase the warranty. So buy it when you get the machine or 364 days after, it still covers it to the same point.
