Im looking to purchase either a 12 in powerbook or ibook in the upcoming future. I am wondering if you all suggest purchasing the protection plan? I realize it comes with 1 year/90 days complimentary support, but is it better to spend the extra money just in case?

I went with the plan, my mom ended up dropping it, ruining the screen, apple replaced it no questions asked. My mother is no allowed to touch my electronics/anything valuable :squint:

remember that it is a warranty not an insurance policy. And yes I would get it.

heres what i'm doing. i'm letting the normal warranty come to a close and a couple weeks before it does, i'll buy applecare to pick it up.

that will not get you extra warranty time. the warranty applecare warranty is 3 years for the orginal date of purchase.

actually its not. its your original warranty plus 2 years which will be a total of 3 years. they dont mention that but its true. i already had this discussion when i had to send in my powerbook under warranty and we discussed what exactly is applecare, how long it lasts and what the prices are for students
